Only in Russia!

When the Pope resigned, I saw an article on the Net with the headline “Pope Resigns, Internet has a Field Day”. If you thought that was a field day, what would you call all those pics and videos of that massive meteor flying through the sky of the Russian city of Chelyabinsk that have gone viral on the Net?

In fact, the number of such videos of the meteor from so many different angles was so high and so many of them were taken by motorists (not standing people with their camera phones) that it raised the obvious suspicion: were these for real? How could so many different motorists have taken all those videos?

The answer: most of them must be for real. And it’s got to do with the fact that the meteor blew up over Russia. You can thank Russian laws, the Russian legal system and the corruption of the Russian law enforcement system for all those videos! Huh? Well, because of all the above mentioned reasons, motorists found they need video evidence to back them up if they got into accidents or were accused of traffic violations. So pretty much every motorist in Mother Russia has a dashcam!

Add YouTube into the equation and all of us worldover got to see so many videos of the meteor as it flew by and blew up.
